I was born in Baytown, Texas in September of 1968 and have lived there my entire life.

I am lucky enough to have been born into a hunting family and was first introduced to hunting by my father, Kenneth, at 3 years old when under protest from my mother, my dad would take me to the duck blind or deer stand and let me watch and learn as best as I could…I think I spent most of my time wrapped in dads’ coat asleep on the floor. At the age of 5 he bought me my first shotgun. It was a Revelation bolt action .410 that was as big as I was, but there were certainly a ton of birds, squirrels, and rabbits that gave their all so I could learn to shoot.. By the age of 10, I was a pretty accomplished duck and deer hunter. At least as accomplished as a 10 year old can be. I was allowed to hunt the first time without adult supervision at the age of 13 when my cousins and I were allowed to walk out to Cedar Bayou that ran through the family farm and hunt wood ducks. From that point on, I spent as much time hunting as I could get away with.

I am now married to a wonderful (and very understanding) woman, Melissa and we have 7 kids with one more on the way. My wife loves to hunt almost as much as I do. As do my children. Their ages range from 2 to 13 years and are just now getting to the age to really begin to understand and appreciate the outdoors and the sport of hunting and shooting, and I cannot wait to pass on to them all I have learned in my years spent in the woods, marshes, and mountains……after all it is 8 more excuses to get outside to hunt and shoot., hope to see you out there!!!!

I was born and raised around water fowling and the outdoors of Southeast Texas and Upper Coastal Regions. My earliest memories of actually hunting ducks were at the age of 5. My Father told me that the day I could hold and fire my little Savage .410 under/over that I could go shoot in the duck blind with him and my Uncles. On my 5th birthday I told him I was ready and we went down to the banks of Lake Charlotte and I shot it.
Months passed between March 1975 and the opening day of duck season. I practiced as much as he would let me on birds, squirrels, rabbits, and any other targets I could find. I had honed my shooting skills as much as a 5 year old could. I had helped my Dad and Uncles string and prepare the hundreds of decoys, helped get the boat ready, helped build the blinds, and participated in every project for preparation of the upcoming season. When opening day came I was ready. Many years have passed since then and I still get just as excited the night before the opener. I’ve had the opportunity to hunt many different areas of the state and found that some areas are a little easier to hunt over others but the same scouting and preparations never change.
In 1988 I married my High School Sweetheart, my life-long partner and loving wife, Angie. We have two children, Jessica (22), and Ransom (16), a van load of nephews and nieces, two black labs(Voo-Doo and Jersey), and a toy poodle named Joli Blon.
Today, the off-season is just as much fun as the season itself. Preparing the boats, tuning the calls, participating in a Delta Waterfowl Chapter, scouting the areas for the upcoming season, shooting the shotguns, and spending time in the outdoors with family and friends are all a part of life for me.

I grew up around a working cattle ranch and rodeo stock. I’ve worked behind the chutes at rodeos as well as riding bulls. I joined the United States Marine Corps right after graduating high school and served 3 ½ years.

I’ve been hunting and fishing since I could walk. I started out with a cane pole and red rider bb gun, chasing mudbugs in the bar ditch when I was wearing diapers. Now, I actively hunt ducks, doves, geese, quail, deer, exotics, pigs, and anything I can take aim at. I shoot skeet and sporting clays when I can. Duck hunting though, is my passion. Nothing beats the crisp cold air, the rush of air through whistling wings, and the smell of gunpowder and a fine cigar.

I have a beautiful wife who enjoys hunting and fishing more than I do it seems. As well as, two beautiful daughters who are still too young to climb into the blind. It won’t be long until they too catch the fever.

I guide for an awesome hunting club, Halls Bayou Ranch. As well as, an active member of the Lost River Waterfowler’s, a chapter of Delta Waterfowl.
